September 20th, 2017 marks the 10th annual Day of Caring event in Oskaloosa. Each year on Day of Caring, United way teams up with volunteers from businesses and organizations to complete service projects in the Oskaloosa community. In years past, volunteers have cleaned up our parks, helped out at local nonprofits, and helped community members fix up their homes.

DONATE: The projects that volunteers complete during Day of Caring often require tools and supplies that project locations may not have. Having the supplies necessary to do the work is essential to completing the projects our volunteers take on. While the United Way sometimes has a few tools and supplies for volunteers to use, and project locations may be able to supply some of the necessary items, there is usually a gap between the tools and supplies we have, and what we need.

This year, United Way is asking local businesses to help fill this gap. If your business is interested in supporting Day of Caring, please contact the United Way of Mahaska County.

SPONSOR: Businesses that wish to support Day of Caring in ways outside of volunteering and donation should inquire about sponsorship. Each year United Way puts on a lunch to thank our hardworking volunteers for making Day of Caring possible. We are looking for businesses to sponsor this years Volunteer Appreciation Lunch by providing one or more of the menu items.

Additionally businesses may choose to sponsor Day of Caring in other ways. For instance, a business could choose to sponsor a project. In this case, the business would help cover the costs of any supplies needed for the project. Businesses may also choose to sponsor Day of Caring by making a monetary donation to help cover any additional costs associated with the event.

For more information on sponsoring Day of Caring, please contact the United Way of Mahaska County.

All participating businesses will receive a special thank you following the event for helping make it a success. If you express interest, you will be updated as soon as possible with more information about how your business can help make a positive impact on Day of Caring.
