Mission and History

Each year, at the end of April, United Way of Mahaska County (UWMC) partners with the Mahaska County YMCA to host the Color Me United 5K and YMCA Healthy Kids Day. Starting in 2016 the Color Me United 5K began donating its profits to the Oskaloosa chapter of the Iowa Reading Corps

United Way is proud to help host this event to give families a fun opportunity to spend time together, be active, and make a difference! We believe that events like these make our communities closer and bring out the best in all of us.

We hope you'll join us in making each year better than the last!

Color Me United 5K Route

The Color Me United 5K route starts and ends in the Penn Activity Center. The majority of the route follows the Mahaska County Rec Foundation trail, making for a smooth run.

At FIVE different Color Stations along the route, volunteers will shower runners with color powder! Adding to the fun, this year's event will feature a Finish Line Color Party with water, music, and lots of color powder to ensure everyone gets COVERED in color!
