Getting Un-Colorful

When the fun and the run are over, the color stays as a reminder, but when you're ready to clean up, remember these tips.

Hair

As noted in an earlier blog post, those with light colored hair may use coconut oil or a leave in conditioner to make color easier to remove later on. If you'd rather not be quite so blue (or teal, orange, pink, or purple) when you go to church on Sunday, try using a bandanna to cover your hair or even your face!

When you get home, before you hit the showers, brush out any excess powder. When you've gotten all the loose powder out, rise your hair with COLD water! Then grab your favorite shampoo and get on with your usual routine.

If you're still a little colorful afterwards, try a mixture of Dawn dishsoap and baking soda!

Skin

When you get done with the run, be sure to visit one of our color blower stations just outside of the PAC. Once you get home, apply Dawn dish soap to dry skin. Scrub it around for a minute or two, then rinse. It should get most of the color off your skin. If not, repeat once your skin has dried.

Clothes Etc.

While we don't recommend wearing anything that you don't want to get colorful, the color is 100% washable. If it proves difficult to remove, try Oxiclean or a similar product. Make sure you put your color run clothing in a separate load! If you're wanting to preserve some memories (and color),check out our blog post about how to wash your t-shirt from the Color Me United 5K.

Keeping Your Vehicle Clean

Post-run, you'll likely be pretty colorful. Cleaning color powder out of car seats can prove difficult, so plan ahead! Bring old towels or blankets to protect your car. When you get home, just throw them in the wash with your other clothing.
